Veegeo provides seismic monitoring at nine geothermal operations (15 producing doublets, and 1 minewater project), including the projects of HVC-ETP in South-Holland, ECW Energy in North-Holland and Mijnwater Energy in Limburg. Using the recently expanded KNMI seismic monitoring network the seismic activity around the geothermal site is documented, analysed, and reported in detail. Moreover, these seismic activity data is manually evaluated with respect to the wells activity. For projects where no wells activity is taking place just yet, the Veegeo Seismic Risk Management Plan is used to establish the baseline seismicity in the area. Monitoring seismic activity around a geothermal operation before and during geothermal production yields better insights into the effects of the production and injection of water, as well as the activities at the surface. These insights contribute to safe and responsible geothermal heat production: licence to operate.
